Intraocular Lens (IOL)

A plastic lens replacing the removed crystalline lens during a cataract operation.

The new implanted lens will have its power accurately calculated to eliminate the need for distance spectacles regardless of the prescription prior to the operation. Can be used in refractive surgery (clear lens extraction) however, until the multi-focal implant has been perfected the patient will require reading spectacles due to the loss of the eyes focusing system regardless of age.
