Infant Visual Development

There are 3 stages of Infant Visual Development:

  1. At birth patterns of light and dark but objects are out of focus and blurred.
  2. Birth to 4 months the eyes begin to work together and the vision becomes less blurred with the depth of focus increasing while the development of colour vision is almost up to adult standard.
  3. 4 to 6 months coordinated eye and hand and eye movements and skills develop however,it is nateral for one of the eyes to appear on occasions to be out of alignment. Should be investigated if persists.
